ScrapeIt vs Bright Data

ScrapeIt vs Bright Data

Bright Data and ScrapeIt are not really competitors, and the most useful thing this page can do is explain why. Bright Data sells infrastructure: one of the largest proxy networks in the world, scraping APIs, and a marketplace of pre-collected datasets. Your engineers use it. ScrapeIt sells an outcome: a scraper built and maintained by someone else, delivering a dataset to your inbox or your database.

Choose Bright Data if
  • You have engineers and want to keep control
  • You need proxies as a product
  • Volume is enormous and highly variable
Choose ScrapeIt if
  • Nobody on your team wants to maintain parsers
  • You need one predictable invoice
  • You want out of the anti-bot arms race entirely

What each company actually is

Bright Data

Formerly Luminati, an Israeli company and the best-known proxy provider in the industry. Products are layered: residential, datacenter, ISP and mobile proxy networks; a Web Scraper API and Web Unlocker that handle blocking for you; and a dataset marketplace where collection has already been done. Heavily self-serve with enterprise plans on top, and a well-documented compliance process for proxy access.

ScrapeIt

Scrapeit Sp. z o.o., registered in Bialystok, Poland and trading since 2021. Writes a scraper for your specific target list, hosts it, monitors it, repairs it after site redesigns, and delivers structured data on a schedule. Proxies, ban handling and browser infrastructure are bought and managed internally. You never see that layer and never budget for it separately.

When Bright Data is the better choice

  • You have engineers and you want to keep control. If your team is going to own extraction anyway, buying the hard infrastructure and writing the parsers yourself is cheaper and far more flexible.
  • You need proxies as a product. Nothing in ScrapeIt's offer replaces a proxy network, and ScrapeIt does not resell one.
  • Volume is enormous and highly variable. Usage-based billing is the right shape when demand spikes and collapses.
  • A pre-collected dataset already answers your question. Buying a finished dataset off a marketplace beats commissioning collection.
  • You need geographic coverage no small vendor can match. Residential exit nodes in specific countries at scale is exactly what Bright Data is for.

When ScrapeIt is the better choice

  • Nobody on your team wants to maintain parsers. This is the real decision. Proxy infrastructure does not break when a site redesigns; parsers do, and someone has to fix them every time.
  • You want one predictable invoice. A fixed monthly tier against a stated row ceiling is easier to defend in a budget than a usage bill that moves with how aggressively a target defends itself.
  • The target list and the fields are specific. A marketplace dataset rarely contains exactly the twenty fields you need from exactly the eleven sites you care about.
  • You need an EU processor and a DPA. A Polish entity keeps processing inside the EU.
  • You want out of the anti-bot arms race. With ScrapeIt, ban handling is not a line in your budget or a topic in your standups.

The honest summary

Bright Data is a much larger company with a genuinely world-class proxy network, and on infrastructure there is no comparison to make. But infrastructure is not a substitute for the work. Buying proxies solves access; it does not write the parser, does not monitor for silent schema drift, and does not repair anything when the target changes its markup.

The question is not which vendor is better. It is whether you want to run a scraping operation or receive data. If you want to run one, Bright Data is an excellent supplier to it. If you do not, a managed service is the correct category, and price per gigabyte is the wrong metric to shop on.

Frequently asked questions

Is ScrapeIt a Bright Data alternative?

Only in the sense that both end with data. They are different categories. Bright Data sells proxies, unblocking and extraction APIs that your engineers build on. ScrapeIt writes and maintains the scraper and delivers the dataset. If you have no engineers for the parser layer, Bright Data does not replace a managed service.

Does ScrapeIt sell proxies?

No. Proxies, ban handling and browser infrastructure are bought and managed internally as part of delivering the data, and they are not resold as a product. If you need a proxy network to build on, Bright Data or Oxylabs is the correct purchase.

Which is cheaper, ScrapeIt or Bright Data?

Bright Data looks cheaper per gigabyte and often is, because the price excludes the two largest real costs of scraping: writing the parsers and repairing them every time a target site changes. Once an engineer's time is counted, a fixed managed fee is frequently lower for a defined target list. For teams who were going to write the parsers anyway, Bright Data is genuinely cheaper.

Can I use both together?

Some teams do, keeping simple targets in-house on purchased infrastructure and handing the difficult or business-critical ones to a managed vendor. That is a reasonable split, and it usually follows from which scrapers your team is tired of repairing.
