Founded as Scrapinghub in 2010, based in Ireland. Three layers: Scrapy, the open-source Python framework it maintains; Zyte API, a paid extraction and anti-ban endpoint developers call from their own code; and Zyte Data, a managed service where Zyte engineers build and run the crawlers. Only the third layer is comparable to ScrapeIt. The first two are tools you operate.
ScrapeIt vs Zyte

ScrapeIt and Zyte both sell web data as a finished product rather than as software you operate yourself, but they sit at opposite ends of the same market. Zyte is a large platform company that has been in web scraping since 2010 and maintains the open-source Scrapy framework. ScrapeIt is a smaller EU engineering team that builds one maintained scraper per target site and publishes fixed prices starting at EUR 169 per month.
- Procurement needs a large vendor with a long trading history
- Your team already runs Scrapy and wants to keep owning the pipeline
- The brief is open-ended and very large
- You want the price before you book a call
- The job is a defined list of sites, not the whole web
- Nobody on your side has time to repair a parser
What each company actually is
Scrapeit Sp. z o.o., registered in Bialystok, Poland and trading since 2021. One product: a done-for-you extraction service. You describe the target sites and the fields, an engineer scopes it, and you receive a scheduled dataset in the format you asked for. No console to learn, no API to integrate against unless you want the data pushed to one.
Side by side
| Dimension | ScrapeIt | Zyte |
|---|---|---|
| Service model | Done-for-you only. ScrapeIt builds, hosts, monitors and repairs every scraper. | Three layers: Scrapy (self-hosted), Zyte API (self-serve), Zyte Data (done-for-you). |
| What you receive | A scheduled dataset in your format. | A dataset from Zyte Data, or responses from an API you build against. |
| Published pricing | Yes. Seven plans, EUR 199 one-time or EUR 169 to EUR 549 per month. | Published for the platform products. Managed data feeds are quoted per project. |
| Cheapest way to start | EUR 199, one-time, up to 100,000 rows, delivered within five days. | Self-serve API usage, or a sales conversation for a managed feed. |
| Setup fee | EUR 499 on recurring plans, EUR 799 on the largest plan. | Zyte states there is no setup fee for standard schemas. |
| Who fixes a scraper after a redesign | ScrapeIt, inside the monthly fee. | Zyte, inside a managed contract. Your team, on the self-serve products. |
| Delivery targets | CSV, JSON, JSONLines, XML, XLSX, SFTP, FTP, cloud storage, email, or straight into your API or database. | Files and cloud storage on the managed service, HTTP responses on the API. |
| Legal artifacts | Mutual NDA as standard, DPA when the work touches personal data, client templates accepted. | Dedicated legal and compliance review as part of the managed offering. |
| Jurisdiction | Poland, EU. | Ireland, EU. |
| Trading since | 2021 | 2010, as Scrapinghub |
| Open-source footprint | None. | Maintains Scrapy, the most widely used Python scraping framework. |
When Zyte is the better choice
- Your procurement process needs a large, long-established vendor. Fifteen years of trading history, a public compliance function and a recognised open-source project clear enterprise review boards in a way a 2021 company does not.
- You want to keep the crawling in your own code. Zyte API and Scrapy let your engineers own the pipeline and buy only the hard parts. ScrapeIt does not sell that layer separately.
- The project is very large and open-ended. If the brief is "most of the retail web, continuously", a vendor built around that scale is the safer bet.
- You already run Scrapy. Moving existing spiders onto Zyte's own infrastructure is a shorter path than handing the whole job to a different team.
When ScrapeIt is the better choice
- You want to know the price before you talk to anyone. Every plan and setup fee is published. Managed feeds at platform vendors are almost always sales-led, and a quote cycle costs weeks before any data exists.
- The job is a defined list of sites. Most briefs are "these eleven competitor sites, daily, these twenty fields". That is a fixed monthly line item rather than a variable usage bill.
- You need a one-time extract. EUR 199 buys a single dataset of up to 100,000 rows. Subscription-shaped vendors rarely price a one-off cleanly.
- You have no engineers to spare. Nothing to integrate, no SDK, no compute units to reason about.
- You want an EU counterparty with a simple contract. Mutual NDA, and a DPA when personal data is genuinely in scope, signed on your paper if you prefer.
The honest summary
Zyte is the stronger company. It is older, larger, and it owns infrastructure and an open-source framework that ScrapeIt does not have. If those things decide your purchase, buy Zyte.
What ScrapeIt competes on is the shape of the transaction: a defined target list, a published price, a signed NDA and a dataset within days, with the maintenance burden sitting entirely on the vendor. For a team that wants a data feed rather than a data platform, that is usually the shorter route.
How to decide in one pass
- Write down the target sites and the exact fields. If the list fits on one page, a per-target managed service is the cheaper structure.
- Decide who repairs the scraper when a target site redesigns. If the answer cannot be "our own engineers", exclude every self-serve product immediately, including Zyte API and Scrapy.
- Ask both vendors for a sample of real output from one of your actual targets before signing anything. ScrapeIt publishes samples and sells a one-time extract precisely so this step is cheap.
- Check the legal artifacts you need. If a DPA is mandatory, confirm it is on the table before scoping.

Frequently asked questions
Is ScrapeIt cheaper than Zyte?
A direct comparison is only possible after a Zyte quote, because Zyte Data is priced per project. ScrapeIt publishes everything: EUR 199 for a one-time extract of up to 100,000 rows, and EUR 169 to EUR 549 per month for recurring plans plus a setup fee of EUR 499 or EUR 799. For mid-sized projects that published pricing is usually lower than an enterprise managed feed. At very large volume a negotiated enterprise rate will win.
Does ScrapeIt use Scrapy?
ScrapeIt does not sell or maintain any public framework and does not tie customers to one. Zyte maintains Scrapy, the most widely used Python scraping framework. If your team already runs Scrapy spiders and wants to keep owning them, Zyte is the more natural home.
Can ScrapeIt sign a DPA like Zyte?
Yes. ScrapeIt signs a mutual NDA as standard and a DPA when the engagement genuinely involves personal data, and will work from your own legal templates. ScrapeIt is registered in Poland and Zyte in Ireland, so in both cases processing stays inside the EU.
Which one is faster to start with?
ScrapeIt in most cases, because there is no quote cycle. The price list is published, so a project can be scoped and started without waiting for a proposal. Zyte Data is sales-led, which adds time before any data exists but suits organisations whose procurement requires a formal proposal anyway.
Want the same comparison for your own target list?
Send the sites and the fields you need. You get a scoped answer and a price, not a discovery call.
