Managed The Knot data scraping across cities and categories

ScrapeIt runs The Knot data scraping as a managed service, and our theknot.com scraper does more than read list pages. Cards carry a price, a rating, a few badges and, for venues, capacity and setting chips, so we walk each category through state hubs and city pages, then open every storefront for packages, services, seasons and awards. One vendor turns up in many city lists, so we merge on the storefront ID and keep each city it appeared in. Anti-bot handling, proxy rotation and CAPTCHA solving keep full US runs steady, and each run is compared with the last, so new storefronts, removed ones, price changes, new award years and rating moves arrive as change records. A sample comes first.

The Knot data in each vendor storefront

We keep The Knot's own labels, so every column traces back to something a couple sees on the page.

  • Identity and location. Vendor name, headline, category, storefront URL and ID, city and state. The Knot venues publish a street address and a map link; photographers, DJs and other vendors who travel publish a base city, a service area and a travel range such as "Travels up to 200 miles".
  • Prices. Starting price and named packages with their own starting prices, or the $ to $$$$ price range for categories that show a tier, plus "Couples usually spend", the amount the vendor calls most common.
  • Capacity and setting. For The Knot wedding venues: guest capacity in bands from 0-50 to 300+, whether the venue holds ceremonies, receptions or both, settings such as ballroom, barn, garden, rooftop or vineyard, amenities such as a dressing room, covered outdoor space or on-site accommodations, and in-house bar, catering and planning.
  • Services. The Details block of each category: shoot types, styles and options such as second shooter, drone or same-day edits for The Knot wedding photographers; cuisine, dietary options and service style for The Knot caterers; bouquets, centerpieces and arches for The Knot florists.
  • Business facts. Years in business, languages spoken, team size, typical response time, availability calendar and booking years, phone and website.
  • Ratings and awards. Star rating, review count, the share of reviews at each star level, Best of Weddings years, the Hall of Fame badge, The Knot deals such as exclusive discounts, gifts and offers, and The Knot Peace of Mind eligibility.

List cards add the vendor's position in the city list, which follows The Knot's own ranking under a Sponsored results label, so we record it per run as a visibility measure, not a quality score. Depth varies by vendor: a new storefront may have no reviews, no awards and no pricing details yet, while an established venue fills every block.

The Knot price ranges, venue seasons and cost guides

The Knot price ranges, venue seasons and cost guides

The Knot prices come in several shapes, and we keep each one in its own column instead of forcing a single number.

  • Starting price. Photographer and venue cards show a "Starting at" dollar figure, and photographer lists filter in bands from $0-$999 to $5,000+. The Knot notes that starting prices may not include every fee, so we store each figure with its label and package name.
  • Price range. DJs, videographers, planners, bands, caterers, florists and cake bakers show a tier instead: $ - Inexpensive, $$ - Affordable, $$$ - Moderate or $$$$ - Luxury.
  • Venue seasons. The Knot venue prices can split into peak season and off-peak season, with the peak months named and a separate "couples usually spend" figure for each.
  • Cost guides. The editorial side prints The Knot average wedding cost and averages per vendor type from The Knot Real Weddings Study, a yearly survey of over ten thousand US couples married the year before, broken down by region, state, city and guest count.

Joined on category and region, The Knot wedding statistics set a benchmark next to each vendor's own price, so a Chicago photographer's starting price can be read against the Midwest average.

The Knot vendors in 25 categories across US cities

A The Knot scraper collects the vendor side of theknot.com, the US wedding planning site run by The Knot Worldwide, the company formed in 2018 when XO Group merged with WeddingWire. What is The Knot? For couples it is a planner with a checklist, invitations, a registry and a wedding website. For wedding businesses it is The Knot vendor marketplace, where venues and pros in 25 categories keep storefronts, from Reception Venues, Wedding Photographers and Videographers to Florists, Caterers, DJs, Wedding Bands, Bridal Salons, Beauty, Officiants and Transportation. In late September 2026 it published about 176,000 vendor storefronts, and the Chicago lists alone held 260 reception venues and 133 florists.

The Knot listings are built city by city. Each category has a page per city or wedding market, such as /marketplace/wedding-reception-venues-chicago-il, with a live result counter, 30 cards a page and filters for starting price or price range, guest capacity, distance, award winners and deals. Some pages cover a market rather than a town, such as Long Island or the Twin Cities, state hubs link the cities, and style pages such as /affordable, /barn or /documentary slice a city further.

Each card opens a storefront whose address ends in a numeric vendor ID after the name, city and state. Vendors write most of it: photos, the About text, packages, services and availability. The Knot adds the star rating, the review count, award badges and an AI-generated review summary.

Why teams scrape The Knot data for wedding market research

Couples across the US shortlist vendors on The Knot, so its prices, ratings and awards are the public face of each local wedding market.

  • Price benchmarking. Median starting price for photographers or venues per city, the spread of price tiers for DJs and caterers, and the gap between a starting price and what couples usually spend.
  • Price monitoring. Weekly runs catch changed starting prices, new packages, new deals and new peak season months, for vendors watching rivals and for venue groups watching their own properties.
  • Market sizing. Count vendors per category and city, split by price range, guest capacity or venue setting, and see which markets are crowded and which are thin.
  • Reputation tracking. Follow The Knot ratings, review counts and award years for a venue group, a franchise or a competitor set. Review counts climb after each wedding season, a rough proxy for events delivered.
  • Research and investment. Wedding software, insurance, finance and hospitality teams read The Knot vendor reviews and prices as aggregates to model supply, pricing power and quality by region.

ScrapeIt tracks The Knot Best of Weddings winners and prices

ScrapeIt is a managed web scraping agency. On The Knot we flag The Knot award winners and The Knot Hall of Fame members year by year, keep prices and capacity per storefront and hand over one The Knot dataset in CSV, JSON or XLSX with the same vendor ID in every file. Clients who extract The Knot data can pair it with our Google Maps and review-site extracts for a wider view of each venue. Pricing depends on storefront count and refresh rate and is agreed in writing before the first run.

FAQ

Do you offer a The Knot API?

Yes. ScrapeIt's The Knot API returns one JSON record per vendor storefront: ID, name, category, city and state, service area, starting price or price range, packages, seasonal venue pricing, guest capacity, services, star rating, review count, star shares, Best of Weddings years and Hall of Fame status. It is a The Knot scraper API that we run and maintain: you choose the categories, cities and schedule, and the same records ship as CSV and XLSX files.

How do you scrape The Knot venues and vendors in every city?

We start from the 25 categories and the state hubs, step down to every city and market page and page through the results 30 cards at a time. Lists show vendors near a city as well as those based in it, so one suburban venue can appear in several lists. We open each storefront once per run, merge on its numeric ID and keep every city list it appeared in. You can take the whole US, a region, a few categories or a watchlist of named venues and vendors.

Do you collect The Knot reviews and ratings?

Yes, as aggregates per vendor: star rating out of 5, review count, the share of reviews at each star level from five down to one, the AI-generated review summary and the topics couples praise, plus the Google rating and count that some venue storefronts show beside The Knot score. Tracking the count from run to run shows how many new reviews a vendor gains per month. Review text and reviewer names stay out of the dataset, because they come from private people.

How often can The Knot data be refreshed, and in which formats?

Starting prices, deals and review counts can change in any week, so most clients refresh a watchlist weekly and the full catalogue monthly. Award years change once a year, when the new Best of Weddings winners appear. Each row carries its collection date, and each run flags new and removed storefronts, changed prices, new award years and rating moves. Delivery is CSV, JSON, JSON Lines or XLSX, pushed to S3, SFTP, Google Sheets or your database.

Is it legal to scrape The Knot?

We collect only publicly available data - everything a visitor can see on The Knot - and we collect it legally. No logins, no paywalls. The dataset describes wedding businesses: names, prices, services, capacity, ratings and awards. Couples' wedding websites and registries, guest names, reviewer names and the names of vendor staff are personal data under GDPR, so we do not collect them.
