You tell us what to cover - a list of businesses you already track, or every profile in chosen categories and cities across the United States and Canada - and how often. We build the crawler around the way BBB is put together: search and category listings to find profiles, then the overview, the reviews page and the complaints page of each business, joined on the profile ID. We run it, watch it and repair it when a page changes. Pacing, proxy rotation, rendering and CAPTCHA handling are part of the service, and field documentation ships with the first delivery.
Runs are one-off or scheduled daily, weekly or on demand. Plans start from EUR 169 a month, or EUR 199 for a one-time extract.
A BBB profile is spread over several views - the overview, Customer Reviews, Complaints and the business details - and all of them hang off one address: /us/ or /ca/, the state or province, the city, the category, then the business slug ending in two numbers. The first number is shared by businesses filed with the same local BBB, the second identifies the business itself, and the pair is the key every row is kept on.
Some profiles also list Business Management and Principal Contacts by name; those are people, so they are left out by default and delivered under GDPR only when a project needs them. Reviewers appear by first name and initial, and consumer names stay out of the dataset by default.
Coverage starts on search and category pages. A query such as roofing contractors near Denver returns a results count and fifteen businesses per page, each with name, categories, accreditation seal, BBB rating, phone, address, service area and a Get a Quote link where the business takes requests. Filters for BBB Accredited, Serving my Area, distance bands, category and rating band let us cut a city into slices and merge them on the profile ID, so a category page becomes complete listings for a metro area or a province.
Businesses with branches carry a Find a Location list and a View HQ Business Profile link, which tie each branch row to the headquarters record.
The Scam Tracker is a separate public database. Each report shows a scam type, the reporter's description, Dollars Lost, Victim Location at city and ZIP level, Date Reported and the Business Name Used, and the list filters by date, country and scam type. We collect it next to the profiles when a project watches for brand names that scammers borrow.
Repeated runs turn ratings, accreditation and complaint counts into a history per business, which a single visit cannot show.
The Better Business Bureau is a network of local BBBs serving the United States and Canada, and bbb.org is their shared directory of business profiles. Every profile names the local BBB that keeps the file - BBB Great West + Pacific, for example - and search has a country switch for the two markets, with Canadian pages under /ca/ and a province code in the address.
Two signals on a profile look alike and are not. The BBB rating is a letter grade from A+ to F on a 100-point scale, built from seven elements: complaint history, type of business, time in business, transparent business practices, failure to honor commitments to BBB, licence status and advertising issues. NR means no rating, not a bad one. Customer reviews are not used in the grade, which is how a retailer can stay at A+ while its reviews average a little over one star.
Accreditation is a third signal: a business applies, pays a fee and commits to the eight BBB Standards for Trust, and the seal and Accredited Since date then show on its profile. Profiles exist for accredited and non-accredited businesses alike, and search can filter to the accredited ones.
Complaints are published as an exchange: the initial complaint, the business response and the customer answer, under a status such as Answered or Resolved.

Learn MoreLearn how to use web scraping to solve data problems for your organization
Where opinion text lives on the public web, what a review record contains on each kind of site, which fields a model needs besides the text, and what quietly breaks a sentiment dataset - with examples from our own projects.
Using web scraping to extract Google Maps data will help you quickly and efficiently find businesses in any industry, city, state, or region. And the extracted contact information, such as phone or email address, social networks, or links to web pages, will help to contact them.
Lead scraping is a reliable way to get the right customer contacts to market your product, saves organizations time, and helps you better understand the audience you want to attract. Contacts include emails, phone numbers, or social media profiles.
ScrapeIt is a managed web scraping service: we build, run and repair the crawlers, and you receive the dataset. Directories with ratings and complaint threads are familiar ground - several pages per business, each with its own pagination and filters, all tied back to one ID. Tell us which businesses, categories or regions matter, and we deliver BBB records as CSV, Excel or JSON, through our API or straight into your database. A free project assessment comes first.
Yes. The ScrapeIt Better Business Bureau API returns the BBB rating, accreditation status, Accredited Since date, complaint counts by type and the latest complaints with business responses as JSON from an endpoint we host, refreshed on the schedule you set. The same records also arrive as CSV or XLSX files, a JSON feed or a load into your database.
Yes. Business profiles, ratings, complaints with business responses, reviews and Scam Tracker reports are published on bbb.org for any visitor to read. We collect only publicly available data - everything a visitor can see on BBB - and we collect it legally. Reviewer and complainant names stay out of the dataset by default.
Yes. For each business we collect the complaint summary - totals for the last 3 years and the last 12 months, broken down by type and status - and every complaint the profile displays, with its date, type, status, text, the business response and the customer answer. BBB notes that the complaints shown may not represent all complaints filed, so the summary counts come as columns of their own.
Yes. Canadian profiles sit under /ca/ with a province code and a postal code in the address, US profiles under /us/ with the state, and both share the same fields, rating scale and filters. Country, state or province and city are separate columns, so one dataset can hold both markets or just one.
Often enough to schedule. Complaint history is one of the seven rating elements, so a run of new complaints can move a letter grade, accreditation can be granted or lost, and the 12-month complaint total rolls forward every day. Weekly runs suit vendor monitoring and daily runs suit a brand watching its own profile; every row carries its capture date.
