Carousell Scraper - Extract Listing Data from Carousell

Carousell is where Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines and Indonesia buy secondhand by chat. We turn those listings into structured rows you can query.

Managed Carousell Data Scraper

We run the whole collection job. You name the markets, the categories and the refresh rate; we build the Carousell scraper, run it on schedule and hand back clean, structured datasets as CSV, Excel or JSON.

The platform is defended. All six national domains answer automated clients with a challenge before they answer with markup, and a sustained request rate gets shut down. Anti-bot handling, proxy rotation and CAPTCHA solving are part of the service, along with adaptive parsing when a category attribute block changes shape.

Most sellers here are private individuals, so we take a listing as a product record: seller names, phone numbers, profile identity and message routes are excluded by default.

Carousell Listing Fields and Price Data We Extract

A Carousell listing is a product record first: the page carries schema.org Product markup with price, currency and item condition, repeated in a Details block. Every category shares a core:

  • Listing id and URL - the address is /p/ plus a title slug ending in a numeric id, and that id is the only stable key: the slug follows a title the seller can rewrite.
  • Title, description, price and formatted price - raw amount and display string with its currency prefix arrive as separate values.
  • Condition - Brand new, Like new, Lightly used, Well used or Used, shipped as a numeric code behind the label.
  • Category, breadcrumb and posted date - leaf name with its numeric id, and relative text such as 27 minutes ago resolved against collection time.
  • Likes and offers - the like counter sits on the card and the listing, the offer count records how many buyers bargained, and a Make Offer control sits on each one.
  • Photos and deal method - the image list on media.karousell.com with a photo count, and meet-up at a named MRT station or mailing.
  • Seller - username, join date, rating, split of positive, neutral and negative reviews, live and sold counts, and badges: Professional Seller, Preferred, Verified Landlord, Certified Partner.
  • State - live, Reserved or Sold, set by the seller rather than inferred.

Cars are a marketplace inside the marketplace: mileage in km, first registration date, annual depreciation, a monthly installment, and a Financials block with OMV, ARF and COE expiry, beside propellant, transmission, engine capacity in cc, max power output in bhp, manufactured year, doors, seats and owner count.

Property rentals carry Furnishing, Lease, Level, Type, Room and Gender, a features grid of Air-Conditioning, Cooking, Internet, No Owner Staying, PUB Included and Visitors allowed, plus postal code, street name and nearest MRT stations, and price per square foot beside the rent. Fashion and Luxury add Brand, Model, Type, Gender and a size given in EU, UK and US at once. Carousell Certified items sit on catalogue pages carrying a product id and a variant id, with battery health, warranty flag, box contents and the inspecting partner and date.

Carousell Data Beyond the Listing Body

Carousell Data Beyond the Listing Body

Beyond the listing body, what decides a Carousell scraping plan is how the site is addressed and where it stops answering:

  • Address grammar - a category path stacks slugs that each end in a numeric id, a keyword search is a slug ending in /q/, a search scoped to one category ends in /q- plus the category id, hub pages end in /h- plus an id, and Cars and Property add landing pages by make, model and estate.
  • Facets in the path - price bands and brand are extra path segments, so a facet combination has its own crawlable address, while every query-string variant is closed to crawlers.
  • The counter is not a total - browse and search print a rounded figure with a plus sign, then load more by an opaque continuation token instead of page numbers. Coverage comes from slicing a category by subcategory, price band, location and sort order, not from paging one query to the end.
  • Sitemaps - each site names one sitemap index holding category files, search-landing files, make and model files, and per-category listing files whose URLs carry a lastmod timestamp, the cheapest way to spot new stock.
  • Listing lifecycle - Property, Autos, Jobs and Services listings run on a validity window, then drop into an inactive state buyers never see, and free quota there is tight. Stock churns, so refresh interval is part of the brief.

What is absent matters as much: Carousell shows no public view counter. View and hourly insight figures live in the seller CarouBiz dashboard, so they are not in what we deliver.

Carousell Across Six Southeast Asian Markets

Carousell is the Southeast Asian classifieds marketplace built on the line Snap to List, Chat to Buy: a seller photographs an item, a buyer opens a chat, and most deals still close at a meet-up rather than a checkout. Singapore is the home market and the deepest site. Five sister sites run beside it - carousell.com.my in Malaysia, carousell.ph in the Philippines, carousell.com.hk in Hong Kong, tw.carousell.com in Taiwan and id.carousell.com in Indonesia - and each publishes its own robots file and its own sitemap on its own host.

The Singapore bar leads with Electronics, Fashion, Luxury, Services, Cars and Property. Under All Categories the tree runs three levels deep, from Audio down to Soundbars, Speakers and Amplifiers, and every node ends its slug with a numeric id. Jobs, Home Services, Learning and Enrichment and a Bulletin Board holding Looking For, Preorders and Announcements share the address space with the goods categories, so a used lens, a room rental, an aircon servicing offer and a wanted ad all resolve to the same shape of page.

The national sites are not translations of one another. The Philippine site is the former OLX PH and leads with Collectibles; Hong Kong and Taiwan run in Traditional Chinese and Indonesia in Bahasa Indonesia; neither Taiwan nor Indonesia carries Cars or Property in the top bar, and Malaysia folds both into a single Cars and Property entry. Amounts are quoted as S$, RM, PHP, HK$, NT$ and Rp, and category ids differ per market, so a cross-market Carousell dataset is six collections rather than one.

Why Buyers Order Carousell Price Monitoring

Carousell prices are resale prices, and they move on their own logic: a phone, a stroller or a quilted flap bag clears here at a number no retail shelf prints. Carousell scraping puts that number in a table next to a date, a condition grade and a seller type. With a managed Carousell data scraper you can:

  • Run price monitoring on preloved stock - asking prices by brand, model, condition grade and market, plus how long a listing survives before it is marked sold.
  • Value cars the way Singapore values them - depreciation per year, COE expiry, OMV and ARF build a residual model that model year and mileage alone cannot.
  • Read rental supply - rent, price per square foot, room type, furnishing and lease length by estate and MRT line.
  • Separate private from commercial - the Professional Seller badge, the Direct Owner switch in Cars and the business name and tax id that Taiwan requires on a trading profile all mark a commercial listing.
  • Watch a competitor shopfront - a seller profile carries live stock, join date, review split and sold count, so a dealer or a reseller can be tracked week by week.
  • Measure authentication exposure - Certified inspection and its absence are both visible on the listing.

Carousell publishes no public API and no partner feed, so a marketplace data feed off these six sites has to be built and then kept alive.

We handle the full parsing job - no setup, nothing to maintain. Output arrives as CSV, Excel or JSON, on whatever schedule you set, and we reply to enquiries within one business day.

FAQ

Is there a public Carousell API for listing data?

No. Carousell runs no developer portal and publishes no partner data feed. The endpoints its own apps and web front end call are internal and undocumented, and the robots file closes the query-string paths that reach them. Collecting the public listing pages is the route, and we deliver the same fields on your schedule.

Which Carousell country sites can you cover?

All six: Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Indonesia. Each is a separate crawl with its own currency, category ids and listing language, so we quote them per market. Hong Kong and Taiwan listings arrive in Traditional Chinese and Indonesian listings in Bahasa Indonesia, with category names mapped to one shared English taxonomy on request.

How often can Carousell listing data be refreshed?

As often as your use case needs - hourly, daily or weekly. Stock moves fast here and listings in Property, Autos, Jobs and Services expire on a validity window, so most buyers run a daily pass over the categories they care about and a lighter sweep of sitemap lastmod values in between to catch new and edited listings.

Can I export Carousell data into my own systems?

Yes, we export the data as CSV, Excel or JSON, or push it to your storage bucket or endpoint - ready to integrate with your workflows. Field names, currency handling and the relative posted date resolved to an absolute timestamp are agreed before the first full run.

Is scraping Carousell listing data legal?

We collect only pages that are public and served without a login, and we never work around sign-in or verification. Listings are treated as commercial records: item, price, condition, category, location and listing state. Seller names, phone numbers, profile identity and chat routes are excluded by default, and we can drop any further field on request.

How does it Work?
