You decide what to follow - live auctions, completed results, a make or a single model, a category such as Motorcycles or Truck & 4x4, a country, or a date range - and we build and run the collection around it. We repair the crawler when the site changes, and the anti-bot side - pacing requests, rotating proxies, handling CAPTCHAs, rendering pages - is on us. Live auctions can be revisited through their final days so the bid path is captured, not just the closing figure; the results archive can be pulled once as a backfill and then topped up daily.
Delivery comes with field documentation: CSV, XLSX, JSON or XML files, our API, a JSON feed, Google Drive or a direct load into your database.
A Bring a Trailer listing reads like an article, but its facts sit in fixed places: the header, the BaT Essentials box, the bid box and the result line. Each goes into its own column.
Seller usernames, bidder handles and the names on comments belong to private people in most cases, so they are left out by default. The vehicle, the auction and the result are what the dataset is for.
The results archive is where most of the value sits. It can be narrowed by recency - the last 7 days, last month, last year, last 2 or 5 years, or all time - and by outcome, Sold or Reserve not met, and sorted by recently closed, popularity or highest bid. Make and model pages gather each model's auctions, and the site runs well beyond cars: motorcycles, boats, aircraft, RVs and campers, tractors, wheels and parts all have categories of their own.
Two habits of the site shape a price history. A result can change after the close: when reserve is not met, the seller and the high bidder can exchange one offer and one counteroffer, and an accepted offer turns the listing into a sale at that amount, so we recheck recent Bid to results. And a car can come back: the BaT Alumni flag marks a vehicle listed before and the BaT History box links its earlier listings, so joining appearances on VIN shows what one specific car fetched each time.
Live auctions add a second layer - bids, comments, views and watchers captured run by run while the clock counts down, including the extension after late bids.
Bring a Trailer, run by Bring a Trailer Media, LLC, is an online auction site for enthusiast and collector vehicles. It is curated: sellers submit a vehicle, BaT chooses which ones to list, and an auction specialist writes the listing from the seller's photos, records and answers. Regular auctions run for seven days, Premium listings stay live for seven to twenty-one days, and each listing has a public comment thread. A bid placed in the final two minutes extends the clock, so an auction ends only when two minutes pass without a new bid.
Reserves are confidential. A listing without one carries the yellow No Reserve tag; the rest have a reserve whose value is not shown on the listing. What a visitor sees is the outcome on the result line: Sold for when the car changed hands, Bid to when bidding stopped below the reserve.
Listings come from the United States, Canada, Europe and further afield, and the interface is available in English, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and German. Bids are placed in the currency of the vehicle's location: GBP for vehicles in the UK, EUR inside the EU and USD everywhere else, so Bring a Trailer prices for cars located in Canada are in USD.

Full plan details →Bring a Trailer results are public and dated, which turns them into a price record for collector and enthusiast cars. Reading the trend for one model takes the raw rows, not a handful of headline sales.

Learn MoreLearn how to use web scraping to solve data problems for your organization
Twelve US car websites compared as data sources, from Autotrader and CarGurus to Copart, IAA and the RV sites: what each shows, which fields need care - VIN, trim, deal labels, damage codes - and how to merge them into one dataset.
Leveraging advances in technology, the AI-powered web scraper has skyrocketed in demand and is helping to expand capabilities by automating tedious daily tasks and speeding up data collection from thousands of websites several times over.
Web scraping is a method of obtaining web data by extracting it from pages of web resources with the help of a program, that is, in automatic mode. It is used to syntactically convert web pages into more usable forms.
ScrapeIt runs web data collection as a managed service: we write the crawlers, keep them working and deliver the dataset with documentation, once or on a schedule. Auction sites suit that model, because the value lies in watching each lot until it closes and checking the result afterwards. We never log in, never bid, and keep personal details such as usernames out of the data by default. We start every project with a free assessment.
Yes. The ScrapeIt Bring a Trailer API delivers lot number, title, VIN, mileage, result, final amount and currency as JSON from an endpoint we host, on whatever refresh schedule you pick. The same rows can also come as CSV or XLSX files, a JSON feed or a direct load into your database.
Yes. Listings, bids, results, views and watcher counts are shown to anyone who opens the site, with no account needed to read them. We collect only publicly available data - everything a visitor can see on Bring a Trailer - and we collect it legally, with usernames and other personal details left out.
No. Reserve values are not shown on the listing, and sellers are encouraged to keep them confidential. The data shows the outcome instead: No Reserve listings are flagged, and a finished auction reads Sold for, or Bid to with Reserve not met, together with the amount and the date.
Yes. The results archive reaches back years and can be cut by make, model, category and outcome, so we backfill the period you need and then add new results daily. Each row keeps its lot number, which makes deduplication and later updates simple.
Yes. When reserve is not met, the seller and the high bidder can exchange an offer and a counteroffer, and an accepted offer updates the listing to sold at that amount. We recheck recent Bid to results for that reason, so the dataset holds the final outcome rather than the first one.
