How ScrapeIt Handles It

You name the states, suburbs or postcodes, the channels - Buy, Rent, Sold, New homes - and the fields you want. We build the crawlers, run them daily or weekly, and repair them when REA changes the page. Realestate.com.au is genuinely hard to collect at scale - the pages render dynamically, rate limits are tight and traffic from outside Australia is treated harshly - so runs are paced and monitored rather than hammered. We collect only what the portal publishes openly. You get clean rows, not a scraping project.

Fields We Collect from Realestate.com.au

A standard realestate.com.au extract includes:

  • Listing identity - listing ID, canonical URL, channel (buy, rent, sold, new homes), status such as Under offer, Under application or Deposit taken.
  • Address - unit or street number, street, suburb, state code (NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT, NT), postcode, and a flag when the address is withheld.
  • Price - the display string in AUD as written, parsed low and high bounds for guide ranges, weekly rent, bond, available date.
  • Attributes - property type (house, unit, townhouse, villa, acreage, land, block of units), bedrooms, bathrooms, car spaces, land size in square metres or hectares, building area, EER where ACT stock shows one.
  • Campaign - auction date and time, open home and inspection slots, date listed, days on site.
  • Sold - sold price or Price withheld, sold date, sale method (auction, sold prior, private treaty).
  • Agency - agency name, franchise brand, office suburb, listing agent names.
  • Content - headline, description, property features, image URLs, floorplan, video or 3D tour link.

Less Obvious Fields and Derived Signals

Less Obvious Fields and Derived Signals

Beyond the visible card, several things are worth capturing because they only exist if you watch the listing over time:

  • Ad depth - REA sells tiered listing products, so a Premiere ad and a Standard ad for similar homes look nothing alike. Recording the tier explains ranking and photo count.
  • Price change history - a listing that opens at Offers over and later switches to a range, or drops the guide entirely for Contact Agent, is telling you something the final figure will not.
  • Relist detection - matching address, agency and attributes catches stock withdrawn and reintroduced with a fresh listing ID and a reset days on site.
  • Withheld handling - sold prices are suppressed on many records; we mark them explicitly rather than filling a number.
  • Cross portal matching - the same property against Domain.com.au, keyed on address plus beds, baths and land size.

What Realestate.com.au Is

Realestate.com.au is the property portal operated by REA Group and one of the largest residential listing sites in the country - the default place Australian agencies advertise stock. It covers every state and territory - New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory - and splits inventory into Buy, Rent, Sold, New homes and Retirement living, with address level property pages and suburb profiles sitting alongside the live ads.

Listings are written in English and priced in Australian dollars. Sale ads carry an asking price, a guide range, an auction campaign, or simply Contact Agent. Rentals are quoted per week with a separate bond figure and an available from date. Every ad is uploaded by a licensed agency, so agency branding, office and agent names sit on the card next to beds, baths and car spaces. Sold records keep the sale date and method, though many are published as Price withheld.

Why Businesses Scrape Realestate.com.au

Australian residential pricing moves through auction campaigns, and the portal is where that campaign is visible day by day. Tracking the same listing ID over time gives you the guide range at launch, every revision, the auction date, and the outcome - sold under the hammer, sold prior, passed in, or quietly relisted weeks later. That sequence is the raw material for discount and clearance analysis.

Buyers agents and developers run suburb profile and postcode pulls to size supply by property type and bedroom count before an auction campaign starts. Build to rent and property management firms track weekly rent, bond and available dates to price new stock against the street. Agency groups benchmark their own listing volume, days on site and ad tier against rival franchise brands in the same postcode. Banks, insurers and proptech teams pull address level history - guide, auction method, sold date, and the Price withheld flag where no figure was published - to keep Australian valuation and risk models current.

Real estate teams are operating in a data environment that is bigger, faster, and more fragmented than ever. Listings go live and disappear in hours, price cuts happen quietly, and the portals that matter most in each country are rarely the same global “top 5.”

About ScrapeIt

ScrapeIt is a fully managed web scraping service. You tell us the target sites and the fields; we write the crawlers, run them on your schedule, maintain them when the site changes, and hand over structured data. No infrastructure, no proxies to buy, no code on your side.

Delivery is CSV, JSON, XLSX, straight into your database, or through an API. Plans start from EUR 199. We collect public data only, hold a GDPR and CCPA posture, and will sign a confidentiality agreement before the first run.

FAQ

Can you collect sold prices from realestate.com.au?

Yes. We take the Sold channel with sale date and method, and we flag records published as Price withheld instead of guessing a figure.

Do you cover rentals as well as sales?

Yes. Rental rows carry weekly rent in AUD, bond, available date, property type and inspection times, on the same schedule as sale data.

Can we limit the scope to one suburb or state?

Yes. We scope by suburb, postcode or state code such as NSW or VIC, and by channel, so you only pay for the slice you actually use.

Do you collect agent and agency details?

We take the agency name, brand, office and listing agent names as published on the ad. Public data only - no logins, paywalls or private accounts.

How is the data delivered?

CSV, JSON or XLSX on a daily or weekly run, or written straight to your database or pulled via API. Plans start from EUR 199.
