Solutions

Scrape Hertz as a managed service

A Hertz rate is not a catalogue price. It exists for a pickup location, a pair of dates, a driver's age and the country site the visitor is on. So a project starts with a search grid: you name the locations, the lead times, the rental lengths and the markets - hertz.com, a national site, or several - and we turn that into a schedule of searches.

We build and run the crawlers, take care of rendering, CAPTCHA handling, proxy rotation and pacing, and repair the extraction when Hertz changes a page. Every row carries the search it came from, so a price is never detached from its location and dates. Delivery is CSV, Excel or JSON by SFTP or to Amazon S3, through our API, or into your database, with field documentation. The project assessment is free and a sample can be ordered first.

Hertz data we collect: rates, classes and locations

The dataset has two layers: the rates returned for a search, and the location and fleet pages Hertz publishes for every visitor.

  • Search context - pickup location and its code, return location for a one-way rental, pickup and return date and time, driver's age, country site and currency.
  • Vehicle class - the class name (Economy, Compact, Midsize SUV, Minivan and the rest), the Hertz class code printed in brackets, the example model, and the four-letter SIPP code attached to the vehicle card.
  • Rate - the daily rate for the searched location and dates, the pay now and pay later variants where both are offered, and the total as the site states it.
  • Vehicle details - transmission, suitcase count, mpg for combustion cars and mile range for electric ones; on model pages also seats, trunk capacity, engine and fuel.
  • Location pages - name, address, phone, coordinates, opening hours by weekday, and the type label: airport, neighborhood, hotel or railway location.
  • Location statistics - the Car Rental at a Glance block with the most popular car type, average daily price, good deal price and cheapest month to rent.
  • Add-ons and offers - the products listed for the market, such as car seats, satellite radio, toll payment, roadside service and protection packages, and the current deals with their conditions.

Gold Plus Rewards accounts, members-only pricing and existing reservations sit behind a login and are not collected.

Hertz price tracker: Rate Planner, weekday stats and history

Hertz price tracker: Rate Planner, weekday stats and history

A Hertz location page carries pricing context of its own, and it is worth collecting alongside live quotes.

  • Rate Planner - the average daily price per month, which Hertz calculates from its own rental data for the previous twelve months at that location.
  • Stats by day - the average daily rate and the most popular car type for each weekday.
  • Most Popular Vehicles - class, code, model and prices per day in the local currency: dollars at a US airport, euro in Milan, pounds at Heathrow.
  • The location directory - country, state, city and branch, split into airport locations and neighborhood locations, with nearby branches linked from each page.
  • Price history - the same search grid repeated daily or weekly turns single quotes into a curve per location, class and lead time. That is what a Hertz price tracker means in practice.

Some country sites add products of their own. The Greek site, run by Autohellas, lists leasing offers with a monthly rate, prepayment, retail price, fuel, CO2 and consumption, and a Flex Drive plan that starts from one month. UK location pages add a best-loved car brand, a top deal price and unsigned customer reviews. We map each market's extras into the same schema.

About Hertz and its country sites

Hertz is a car rental company with branches at airports, in cities, in hotels and at railway stations, in the United States and abroad. The US site lives at hertz.com. Other markets have their own domains - hertz.co.uk, hertz.de, hertz.com.au and more - and in some countries a local operator runs the site, as Autohellas does at hertz.gr.

The open part of hertz.com has four areas a data buyer cares about. The booking form takes a pickup and drop-off location, dates and a driver's age and returns the classes on offer. The location directory holds a page per branch. The Vehicle Hub describes the fleet by class and by manufacturer, each class with an example model and the words or similar - Hertz rents a class, not a named car. Deals and offers lists the promotions in force.

Hertz also sells used cars through Hertz Car Sales, a separate site linked from the header as Buy a car. It is a different catalogue with a different structure, and we scope it as its own job.

Why track Hertz prices by location and date

Hertz rates move with demand at each branch, and its location pages add the averages that put a single quote in context.

  • Competitor rate monitoring. Rental companies and brokers compare their daily rate with Hertz for the same airport, class and dates at several lead times, and reprice against it.
  • Direct versus comparison sites. The same class at the same branch can carry one price on the brand site and another on an aggregator; the SIPP code is the key that helps line the two up.
  • Seasonality. The Rate Planner and the cheapest month to rent give a year of context per location without a year of crawling.
  • Travel budgeting. Corporate travel teams and tour operators check how much Hertz prices per day differ between an airport and a neighborhood branch in the same city.
  • Network mapping. Opening hours, location types and coordinates show where the brand is present and how long each counter stays open.
  • Fleet and leasing research. Class line-ups, example models and, in Greece, monthly leasing offers show which cars the brand is putting on the road.

How Artificial Intelligence Is Used In Web Scraping

Leveraging advances in technology, the AI-powered web scraper has skyrocketed in demand and is helping to expand capabilities by automating tedious daily tasks and speeding up data collection from thousands of websites several times over.

What is Web Scraping and What is it Used For?

Web scraping is a method of obtaining web data by extracting it from pages of web resources with the help of a program, that is, in automatic mode. It is used to syntactically convert web pages into more usable forms.

About ScrapeIt

ScrapeIt builds and operates crawlers for travel brands, booking sites and comparison engines, where a price only means something together with the search that produced it. For Hertz we plan the grid of locations and dates with you, run it on the agreed schedule and deliver rows your pricing tools can load directly. We do not log in, so loyalty accounts and member rates stay out of scope, and personal data is handled under GDPR. An MCP server is available on request.

FAQ

Do you offer a Hertz API for rental rates?

Yes. The ScrapeIt Hertz API returns pickup location, dates, vehicle class, class code, example model, daily rate and currency as JSON from an endpoint we host, refreshed on the schedule you set. The same data also comes as CSV or XLSX files, a JSON feed or straight into your database.

Is it legal to scrape Hertz?

Yes. Rates for a searched location and dates, vehicle classes, location pages and published deals are shown to every visitor without an account. We collect only publicly available data - everything a visitor can see on Hertz - and we collect it legally. Member rates and reservations behind the login are not touched.

How often do Hertz rental rates need refreshing?

Rates follow demand for the chosen dates, and Hertz itself notes on its location pages that prices may fluctuate. Monitoring of near dates usually runs daily, while searches months ahead are fine on a weekly run. The aggregates on location pages - average daily price, good deal price, weekday rates - need only an occasional pass.

Which Hertz country sites can you cover?

Any of them: hertz.com for the United States, national sites such as hertz.co.uk, hertz.de or hertz.com.au, and locally operated sites like hertz.gr. Each market is searched on its own site, because the rate, the currency and the classes offered depend on where the visitor books. The market is a column in every row.

Can you collect Hertz leasing and monthly plans?

Yes, where a country site publishes them. On the Greek site we collect the leasing offers - make, model, version, monthly rate without VAT, prepayment, retail price, fuel, CO2 and consumption - and the conditions of the Flex Drive plan. Monthly rental promotions on other sites are captured from their deals pages.
