Football scores and fixtures run by date at /sport/football/scores-fixtures/{date}, and BBC Sport fixtures for a single club sit under /sport/football/teams/{team}. A Saturday card goes from the Premier League through the EFL and National League to FA Cup qualifying ties, the Welsh Cup and the Highland and Lowland leagues, then out to La Liga, the Bundesliga, the J1 League, MLS and the South Africa PSL. BBC Sport results for past dates keep their scorers and cards.
A football match page gathers everything about one game. The header holds the score, venue, attendance, round and period; key points sum up the story; the preview gives each side's last five results, season-so-far numbers and a head-to-head record with previous scores; and the table shows the standings on the day.
Once the match report is published it sits on the same page, tagged as a sport event report and carrying the fan rater. One match becomes a time-ordered event stream plus a box score, all under one URN.
A BBC Sport scraper reads the sport section of the BBC website, served on both bbc.co.uk/sport and bbc.com/sport. Under the stories runs a data layer: scores and fixtures, league tables, line-ups, match stats, top scorers and live text commentary. Football goes deepest. Cricket, rugby union, rugby league, basketball, netball and American football also run scores and fixtures pages, most with tables; Formula 1 has results and standings, tennis a scores and schedule page, golf leaderboards, and athletics, cycling, darts, snooker and horse racing post results and calendars. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each have a front of their own.
Every record has a URN, and the URN is the key worth keeping. A football match is urn:bbc:sportsdata:football:event:s- plus a 25-character code; teams and competitions are keyed by slug, as in team:tottenham-hotspur and tournament:premier-league; players carry s- codes of their own. Cricket runs on numbers instead: match e-225577 has its scorecard at /sport/cricket/scorecard/e-225577. F1, golf and tennis events use codes such as EVP5008361.
Stories and match pages have a separate short content ID, such as c046lgw20nno. A match page at /sport/football/live/{id} is therefore not keyed like the match itself: the page header names the match URN, and that link is what joins live text to the score.

Depth below the top flight is the first reason. Past dates stay browsable. Dated football pages keep final scores, scorers and cards for earlier seasons, match pages and cricket scorecards stay online at the same address after the day, and F1 results are grouped by season. Tennis is the exception: its scores page steps back only about a month, so a tennis history is built by collecting forward. We confirm the depth for each competition in the sample.
